Book Mail Monday: April 20, 2026

There’s something about book mail that feels like possibility in physical form… and this stack?? It’s giving range.

Like, we went from sapphic Greek mythology to gut-punch literary fiction to small-town thrillers with generational secrets, and then somehow ended up deep in YA horror and paranormal chaos by the end of it.

Which honestly tracks for me.

Let’s get into it 👇

🏹 The Witch and the Huntress

Mythic Fantasy | Gifted by William Morrow | Out 4/21

I don’t even need to overthink this one. Medea. Atalanta. Sapphic tension on an epic quest?? Say less.

This feels like one of those stories where the mythology is just the backdrop and the real focus is power, choice, and who you become when the world tries to define you first. I already know I’m here for morally gray women making questionable decisions.

🌊 Small Boat

Literary Fiction | Gifted by Mariner Books | Out 4/21

This one… feels heavy in a very intentional way.

It’s told from the perspective of the officer who ignored distress calls during a real-life tragedy, and that alone tells me this is going to sit with me for a while. The kind of book that doesn’t just tell a story; it asks you what you would’ve done.

Not an easy read. But probably an important one.

🔪 The Butcher Legacy

Thriller | Gifted by Zando | Out 8/11

We are back in the Wren Muller universe and I am both excited and a little afraid.

Serial killer aftermath. New disappearances. And now a pastor with secrets?? This series does not hold back, and knowing it’s grounded in real forensic experience just makes it hit harder.

Also… a “twisted triangle” of killers?? I’m listening.

💌 Just for the Season

Historical Romance | Gifted by Gallery Books | Out 7/7

Okay but Regency-era Bachelorette?? With scandal?? And a second-chance romance lurking in the background??

This feels like pure fun. Messy decisions, summer house chaos, and one man she definitely should not be falling for again.

I will absolutely be seated for this.

🌲 Hide and Seek

Nordic Noir | Gifted by Harper | Out 7/7

Something about children’s rhymes in thrillers will never not creep me out.

Cold case + present-day disappearance + that counting rhyme threading it all together?? This feels like the kind of book you read in one sitting and then regret reading at night.

🏞️ Liar’s Creek

Thriller | Gifted by Minotaur Books | Out 5/5

Small town. Family tension. Missing uncle. Generational trauma.

You already know this is my kind of thriller.

I love when a mystery is just as much about the relationships as it is about what actually happened, and this one feels like it’s going to dig into all of it.

☀️ Underlined Summer 2026 Preview

This might’ve been my favorite part of the mail, not gonna lie.

So many chaotic, spooky, romantic YA vibes coming our way:

  • angels vs jinn and fated mates (Heavensent and Hellbent, out 8/1)

  • queer small-town horror with something watching (The Saw Mouth, out 5/5)

  • memory loss + creepy girls + possible haunting (There Are Ghosts Here, out 8/11)

  • 80s gothic paranormal romance with cursed jewelry (Grove Hollow: Metamorphosis, out 7/7)

  • multiple confessions, one actual killer (Mystery Guest, out 7/7)

  • foggy coastal town + supernatural secrets (Rainsong, out 6/23)

Basically: if you like your YA a little unhinged, a little haunted, and a little romantic… this lineup is for you.

✨ After the Stack

This is one of those mail days where I can already tell my mood reading is about to spiral.

Like do I want:

  • morally gray mythological women

  • a quiet, devastating literary gut punch

  • or a thriller that ruins my sleep schedule

…because the answer is yes.

❓What are you picking first from this stack? Or what’s been showing up in your book mail lately?
